Hong Kong Christmas

For Christmas, Brian & I decided to get away and do something fun for the holidays since it was our first Christmas away from home. So, when we heard that Hong Kong is only a 2 hour flight from Okinawa, we decided that was where we wanted to spend Christmas.

We hopped on a flight on Christmas Eve, and after being hassled about "leave papers", we finally made it to the bustling city. We rode the MTR (underground rail) straight to The W Hotel, which was on top of the mall (Elements) that was on top of the MTR station. Crazy.

We had a great time visiting night markets, Stanley market, riding the ferry, Victoria's Peak, the Big Bronze Buddha, eating dim sum, and riding on the Chinese junk boat on Christmas night to watch the "Symphony of Lights" show.

Here is the ferry we rode on...

And the view from Victoria's Peak...

We rode the trolley going backwards down from Victoria's Peak, I caught a picture of the trolley passing us going up and you can see the faces of the people on the other trolley!

Here is the Chinese junk boat we rode on Christmas night.

And us on the boat with Chinese Santa.

We rode a gondola up to the Big Bronze Buddha. Amazing views!

It is the largest outdoor seated Buddha in the world!

Here is a picture of what the streets look like in most of the areas we went to. So crowded! Check out the guy with the peace sign. Us blondes didn't stick out at allll.

It was an unforgettable trip, and hopefully the first of many while we are stationed over here in Okinawa! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Cheers to a great 2009!
