Mom left on Friday afternoon and things have been pretty quiet around here. We miss her so much already!
Just when I thought things were getting dull 'round these parts (except for being hit with projectile baby mustard during a 6 am diaper change), we find out that Mother Nature is planning to hit us with our first typhoon since we've been on Okinawa! Typhoon Kompasu is projected to become a Category 3 before arriving around 3pm. You can see in this picture that Okinawa is right where the 3pm Tuesday dot is!
Brian is the "typhoon officer" and has to stand duty until we're "all clear", which totally sucks. I wish he could be here with us, but if it wasn't typhoon duty, he would probably be evacuating planes. Yes, they fly out the planes and leave the families on this speck in the middle of the ocean. YAY!
I went to the commissary on Sunday morning, so there was no need for me to rush out and get groceries yesterday. We keep a good stock of bottled water and batteries, so we're set! I am thinking about going to grab some ice though for the cooler. That way I don't have to open the freezer or the fridge if the power goes out. And trust me, I will NOT be opening the freezer if the power goes out- I do NOT want to lose my precious stash of liquid gold (aka breastmilk)!!!
Caden and I will be hunkering down at home until this thing passes. I've talked to my neighbors on both sides and they are staying put as well. Not many places to go on this tiny island! If things get really bad, we could always run for cover at the Westpac Inn on base since Brian will be right across the street. Stay safe all of our Oki friends! :)
