Double Digits!

September 8th marked the half way point for the deployment, so we are now officially “over the hump” and in the double digits!

Here's an update from his Officer in Charge (OIC)...

The weather has started to change and we are enjoying some cooler weather, there have even been a few days where we have seen clouds. It is still hot most days, near 100 degrees, but the intense heat should now be behind us. We celebrated Labor Day here with a squadron barbeque and on Sept 11th, Outback Steakhouse provided us an outstanding meal.

August was another exceptionally busy month with the detachment flying over 750 hours and 500 sorties. In addition to our normal tasking we supported numerous named operations, Capt Jeff Rzasa (Flight Officer and Night Operations Pilot) had this to say: “The detachment provided Battlefield Illumination for air and ground elements throughout the AOR (area of responsibility), expelling over 700 total flares in one week which was more than the previous months of June, July and August combined."
